Status:Part-time, Non-exempt


Hours Per Week:25


Schedule:Mon - Fri, 4:00 - 8:00 pm & Sun, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm





Scope & Purpose of Position:


To invest in the lives of children and younger adults, developing and maintaining relational ministry opportunities. To conduct an ongoing evangelical ministry with the specific purpose of introducing children, teens, and young adults to Jesus Christ. To provide an environment and ministry opportunities in which children, teens, and younger adults can grow and mature in their faith and grow into a walk of holiness. To provide leadership and help to develop the music and arts programs at the Corps.




Responsibilities

+ Develop and maintain practical approaches to building solid Christian living among the children, teens, and younger adults under your influence.


+ Develop and maintain programs and ministries to enhance a healthy spiritual, physical, and emotional development of those under your influence.


+ Disseminate information regarding community resources available to children, teens, younger adults, and their guardians.


+ Assist with driving for programs and Sunday services, including picking up and dropping off of program participants


+ Conduct weekly teen worship times and assist with Teen Nights.


+ Teach a Sunday School class and assist with Sunday School openings.


+ Develop and maintain a new or traditional ministries to facilitate the enhancement of the healthy spiritual formation and discipleship of children, teens, and younger adults (e.g. Bible studies and Corps Cadets).


+ Develop and maintain contacts with young adults/teens at local college/high school campuses, where contact is permitted.


+ Attend and chaperone Corps, Divisional, and Territorial retreats and events as instructed.


+ Develop and maintain an active recruitment and training program for youth ministry volunteers within the local corps.


+ Develop and implement an evangelism training program for teens and younger adults.


+ Develop and maintain a mentoring and visitation program within the corps for teens and younger adults.


+ Assist with Christmas ministry such as; processing applications, organizing, and driving.

Qualifications





+ Commitment to evangelical outreach.


+ Understand and uphold The Salvation Army doctrine.


+ A degree in Youth Ministry or related field, graduate of Railton School, and/or equivalent experience.


+ Must possess a valid driver's license.


+ Self-motivated and strong communication skills.


+ Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but he/she is required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Army.
